WHAT YUKON HIRE MEANS FOR WORKERS
The Yukon government puts Yukon workers first when spending public money
It defines a Yukon resident, for government jobs, as someone who has lived in Yukon for three months (six months for government construction jobs).
To verify this, your Yukon Health Care card will be used.
It reviews the fair wage schedule.
On government contracts, journey tradespeople should receive a fair wage.
It ensures government hiring is at first limited to Yukon applicants.
It fosters jobs for young people.
The Business Incentive Program (BIP) includes a new 15% rebate to employers for hiring workers aged 24 and under, and increases the rebate for hiring apprentices from 10% to 15%. Certain employee benefits paid by employers are now eligible for rebate.
